Three click rule

19 June 2006 - 01:53 PM

The three click rule states, that any one user should have to click on links, no more than three times, before they find the content they are after.

This philosophy has been drilled into everyone contributing anything to the OmegaSoft website. There are one or two factors when content is a little more than three-clicks away, but on the whole we try to abide by this unofficial rule.

So thank god for LiveSpace! LiveSpace offers all your web content, feeds and search history available at no more than one click! Meaning that the content you really want, will always be available, and accessible for you anywhere.

So, working on the new proposals for the intrim iForum discussion board, we have been discussing whether or not it would be a good idea to have unlimited sub-forums.

At the moment we are gearing ourselves up towards a single level forum. With threads available in the immediate forums (no sub forums), however, many of our competitors are drilling out forums, on the basis of unlimited sub-forums.

Yet, the three-click rule - although unofficial - still has a strong basis on the average Joe Blogs, who doesn't have that much time on his hands (in an ever faster paced world) to sit behind his computer, clicking through thousands of sub-forums. Yet we are still interested in your ideas! After all, you're the guys who were making these services for. Drop us an email at beta@omegasoft.co.uk.
