Do you sacrifice details for processing time?
For those reading this blog earlier this week, that is the question we have had to face while developing our new hit counter service.
The main problem, is the fact that everytime a statistical report loads, all the data (is currently) live. So it is accurate to the point you press go (or [enter]) on your address bar. The downside is that it will take an awful ammount of execution process time. Thus reducing the quality of service to other users.
However, one option available is to have the server, every (say) 24 hours, generate everyones statistics automatically. Although the main disadvantage is obvious, at worst, your statistical data will be 24 hours old.
Decisions, decisions, decision.
Beta testers can now apply for our hit counter, through the beta website. OmegaSoft Beta
